مثال: إقتراض 1000$ عند معدل فائدة سنوي 6% لمدة 8 أشهر يعني بأنك سوف تدفع 40.70$ فائدة.
الفائدة المركبة أعلى، لأن معدل الفائدة قد حسب على المبلغ الرئيسي بشكل شهري + الفائدة المحققة من الأشهر السابقة. للفترات الزمنية الأقصر، يكون حساب معدل الفائدة متساوياً بالطريقتين، ولكن مع إزدياد فترة القرض، فإن التفاوت بين النوعين من الفائدة ينمو.
