لقد أعلنت مصادر بقطاع الطاقة إن أرامكو السعودية انتهت تقريبا من تشييد مشروع واسط العملاق للغاز لكنها تعالج الغاز من حقل كران وليس من الحقلين البحريين المخصصين لتغذية المحطة. وكانت مصادر بالصناعة قالت في ابريل نيسان إن شركة النفط الوطنية بدأت اختبار أجزاء من المحطة باستخدام إمدادات من منظومة الغاز الرئيسية لأرامكو مما أثار الآمال بأن يساعد غاز واسط في تلبية الطلب المحلي خلال موسم ذروة الطلب الصيفي. وقال مصدر مطلع إن من غير المتوقع
