يعتبر احد اكثر المؤشرات استخداما. وتتراوح قيمه من 0إلى 100. ويستخدم في تحديد ما اذا كان زوج من العملات قد بيع عند ذروة البيع او تم شراؤه عند ذروة الشراء. فيشير إلى تراجع محتمل. فقيمة70 واكثر يعني ان السوق وصل ذروة البيع, في حين قيمة 30 واقل تعني ان السوق وصل ذروة الشراء. ولكن يجب ان تكون حذرا عند تطبيقه لأنه حتى عندما يشير إلى قيمة ذروة بيع او شراء لا يعني هذا ان الأسعار ستتراجع.
