The two games draw inspiration from the fantasy world of, Gielinor. The games will feature all the stories, characters, and locales which the MMORPG has made famous through its lengthy history. The game on the board will take up to five players on a quest-based campaign through the world of Gielinor.

Based on the release of Steamforged, players will "craft and upgrade equipment upgrade their characters, create special recipes, interact with NPCs and test their abilities exploring different regions of the world". Like the multiplayer MMORPG, players can also be able to complete side quests to expand the world of the game.

While the TTRPG will be comprised of an exquisitely illustrated book that contains all the information for players to run a RuneScape TTRPG. The players will be able to create their own characters and set off on a journey into the world of Gielinor to design "unique and exciting adventures". Plus, the TTRPG guidebook is "fully aligned with ruleset of the fifth edition of the world's favorite role-playing tabletop game".
